Weekly Summary #1 (Mar 1, 2026 to Mar 7, 2026): A New Beginning
March 08, 2026
Hi all, this will be my first post ever on this website. I’ll do weekly recaps of what has been going on in my world. For this week, I’ll discuss my new website and reducing my phone time.
This Week’s Topics
- New Website
- Reducing My Phone Time
- Cool Find of the Week
New Website
After many months of contemplating, I’ve finally pulled the trigger and established my personal website! For now, I know it doesn’t look visually exciting, but I can always improve the design later. The plan is to start simple and focus on adding content, but I will extend it with new features overtime. I won’t go too crazy, but it will certainly have a lot more than what I have right now in the long run.
It’s an exciting next step, and hopefully I continue to maintain it in the future.
Reducing My Phone Time
In an effort to reduce the amount of time I waste scrolling on my phone, I’m using an app called Minimalist Phone that restricts usage of these apps. After seeing reports of how much time I’ve spent in a week, I’m hoping to take some of that time back.
So far it has been working, and I’m spending more of that time doing other things. One such example is that I was able to reduce the time I spent on TikTok by half the amount.
How the app works is that you choose which apps you want to reduce time on. Then, the next time you try to open an app, a timer appears asking if you are sure you want to access the app. After waiting for the timer to finish, you choose how much time you want to spend and proceed. After spending that amount of time on the app, depending on your settings, you either get a reminder that you’ve reached the time limit and are prompted to either close the app or extend usage time or it closes on you altogether.

There is also the time block feature where you set times where you cannot open these apps at all. These time blocks are especially useful for periods where screen time would disrupt your day. One such example is reducing screen time before bed to improve sleep quality.
Overall, it’s a pretty useful app. Unfotunately it is paid, but I think it is worth it in my opinion.
Cool Find of the Week
This week’s cool find is an article of the history of Yahoo’s homepage design The 2005, 2007, and 2010 versions are my favourite iterations. Perhaps this could be inspiration for a homepage for my website someday.
