Applying to Test MapleStory Classic Closed Beta
When I was a kid, one game I played frequently was MapleStory. It was a grindy game, and ten-year-old me was not good at it, but I enjoyed my time on it. I quit playing a few years after, but modern MapleStory has since evolved into a behemoth that is unrecognizable to me. There were only 4 classes when I started playing. Now there’s at least a few dozen. The gameplay flow is a lot more involved than the slow living approach back in the day.
Now, there’s a version of MapleStory that aims to revive the old-school experience called MapleStory Classic World. They’ve already had an in-person beta test in a PC Cafe in California and now they’re doing another test session online. I’ve seen clips of a few videos of the playtest and from what I see, the overall feel will be more or less the same. But there will be changes that will alter or improve some experiences such as changing damage formulas or the way party experience is distributed.
Sign ups start on March 10th and will be open until April 7. If you are interested, sign up now by clicking on this link. One thing to note however is that spots are limited and the team will review applications and handpick certain people. I’m hoping I can get a spot!
Vans Warped Tour Montreal Lineup Complete
Over the past few weeks, Vans Warped Tour was slowly revealing the lineup for the Montreal stop a few bands at a time. The lineup is now fully released and while I was hoping to have more acts that align with my taste, if you enjoy hardcore, it could be a decent lineup. Comparing to the other stops however, there are fewer acts than the American locations. I have heard that the lineup can still be updated for the next couple of months though, so I will keep an eye on that.
If I do go, there’s a few acts that I’d like to see, but I will also take the time to discover other acts and see if they interest me.

New Project: Journal Prompts Generator
I made a quick project generates prompts for journals and blogs. With a click of a button, you can get a new idea each time. I’ll continue to add new prompts every week and add some new features.
Loose Thoughts
- Don’t fully trust Reddit for learning about salaries. The people who are most likely to post are the ones making six figures and want to show that off. Instead find a more official source like a government statistics agency.
- There has been growing opposition against the planned Alto high-speed rail network in Canada ranging from organized groups to even some municipal councils. Concerns include ecological impacts, the fear of expropriation, and cost. While I think these concerns can and should be addressed, I still think the project would still be a net benefit for the nation in the long run.
Media Log
- I listened to the new Baby Keem album, Ca$ino. It is a pretty decent and fun album overall.
- Making progress in Baldur’s Gate 3 with my group. We’re pretty much almost done the game and have a boss fight or two left.
Cool Find of the Week
- There’s a project that publishes an annual book containing links to numerous personal websites. Think of it like those Yellowpages phone books but for websites. Check it out here and consider submitting your website. You may also keep an eye out for copies when they go on sale.
